This is an interesting interpretation of the opinion. One can see why a person has that point of view especially if they dealt with some really bad actors in the settlement funding industry. I would only add if done the right and ethical way, settlement funding can be a net benefit for people seeking the help. You can get the money right away, the due diligence doesn't take much time and more often than not, the banks and other traditional lending institutions will not help the people so settlement funding companies are their last hope. The companies are not charities, so as a business they have to make a profit, but many times the companies may negotiate with some of the terms. The borrower should be careful but if they are in a dire situation or just want the cash, it is a good place to go.

The organizations are not non revenue organizations, so as a company they have to revenue, but many periods the organizations may settle with some of the conditions. The client should be cautious but if they are in a serious scenario or just want the money, it is a excellent way to go.

Advance settlement funding is even more dangerous than the lure of a fast settlement. Not only do you have no idea when, if ever, you will receive your settlement, but unless you are a lawyer you probably won't even be able to fully grasp the "fine print."

Can a lawyer control who you use for prefunding settlement thereby inhibiting you from obtaining the best interest rate because they want you to only use the one company that they want u too? Do they have to, at your request, release your info to the lending company you choose?
