On March 23, 2012 Wellington Polo Millionaire John Goodman was convicted by a jury of DUI Manslaughter, a first degree felony.
John Goodman, 48, is facing a potential 30 years in prison at sentencing which was scheduled for this week.
However, the judge presiding over the case is under siege by a barrage of defense motions.
A jury convicted Goodman, 48, of the first-degree felony on March 23 after less than six hours of deliberations, finding Goodman was intoxicated when his Bentley smashed into a car driven by Scott Wilson, 23, in February 2010, flipping Wilson's car into a canal and drowning him.
Goodman's sentencing, in which he faces up to 30 years in prison, was initially set for Monday afternoon.
It now appears that sentencing won't take place any time soon – as an increasingly complex legal battle unfolds. Meanwhile, Goodman remains in the Palm Beach County Jail without bail.
Since the swift conviction, Goodman's defense team – including Miami attorney Roy Black – has filed a series of motions citing fatal flaws in the proceedings.
The defense wanted a new trial, to have Goodman released on bond while he appeals, to question jurors about alleged misconduct and, in the latest legal maneuver, to have the judge step down because of alleged bias against the defendant.
Lets wait and see what comes next!

I am so frustrated about the vindictiveness of the public opinion about the John Goodman DUI case. Here a man who i suspect has a stop drinking problem. The result being the demise of a young college graduate. This accident, and it was an accident , missing a stop sign on a dark road at night, which could happen even to a sober person, was not an criminal act. Sure liquir was a mitigating factor in the accident, but it was not a wanton act of criminal intent by Mr. Goodman. I don't know the man, and not personal motive in this case. I'm human and when i was young i have driven drunk, and thought i was sober enough to drive, stupid that i was, just like a lot of people drinking at football, and soccor games, and drive their cars home, very much under the influence. The boys who died, family has received 46 million dollars, blood money in my eyes, and still want's Mr. Goodman to spend 16 years in jail. Tell me, is that justice. This man has not been arrested prior to this accident, for DUI, like many habitual drunks with many arrest to weigh as mitigating circumstances to warrent such a gross sentence. Give me a break. Is the millions awarded to the boys family, going to be used to prevent another accident by drunks to save many lives, or will the Wilson family , spend that blood money to enjoy a lavish for of life. Justice should be tempered with mercy and intelligence, and it this case, this man Mr. Goodman is being sacrificed for being wealthy. Since when is it a crime to be wealthy. Being poor from not being productive, and lazy is a crime not being wealthy. This man's reputation is unsullied, up to this sorry accident, and not one person has come forth to besmirch his reputation. If this is Florida justice, than supreme court justice, Oliver Wendell Holmes is quoted as saying JUSTICE Is An ASS!!!! God help people in Florida who are wealth when they make a mistake!!!!
